Everyone remembers their first love... This blog is a collection of WWII letters sent during the year 1945 by a young Marine to Franie, the girl on the front porch. Letters will be posted as they "arrive". Wick began writing to Franie in 1944. The early letters can be found by visiting the blog "The Girl on the Front Porch 1944".

Big Bands Welcome The New Year!
There is nothing better than Big Band music to ring in the New Year! May 1945 bring the end of fighting and the safe return of all band members ...
Take a minute to watch the Andrew Sisters sing "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" and "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree" on my VIDEO BAR. Great fun and typical of WWII popular music!
